How fast can you type? Test your WPM and accuracy.
Average typing speed is 40 WPM. Professional typists reach 65–75 WPM. Competitive typists exceed 100 WPM. Anything above 80 WPM is considered fast.
Practice daily with touch typing (all 10 fingers, no looking at the keyboard). Focus on accuracy first — speed follows naturally. Use the 60-second mode for consistent practice.
The world record is 212 WPM set by Stella Pajunas in 1946 on a typewriter. Modern records on keyboards reach 170+ WPM.
For most games, WPM matters less than reaction time and accuracy. However, in chat-heavy games or MMOs, fast typing is a real advantage.
WPM (Words Per Minute) counts a "word" as 5 characters. CPM (Characters Per Minute) counts each keystroke individually. WPM = CPM ÷ 5.
